Three score and ten are given to man, But ours is a much briefer span.
So, though I give you all my heart, The time will come when we must part.
But all around you, you will see, Creatures that speak to you of me;
A tired horse, a hunted thing, A sparrow with a broken wing
Pity, and help (I know you will) And somehow, I'll be with you still;
And I shall know, although I'm gone, The love I gave you lingers on.

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
I think God will have
prepared everything for
our perfect happiness.
If it takes my dog being
there [in Heaven],
I believe he'll be there.

In memory of
Dusky, who passed
away August 31,
2009.
Dusky was our
13-year-old Cocker
Spaniel who came
into our hearts
Abandoned by his previous owner, we believe God sent him to us. He has been a true blessing and we will greatly miss his love and affection.

Roxy came to the United States with high hopes of finding a good home
with loving family members. After much looking, Roxy found a home with
Vicky and all of her family. Her affection for Roxy was evident at the exchange
in Bardstown, KY.
Vicky was so full of love for Roxy that she was on the ground at the gas
station hugging and kissing Roxy, and Roxy quickly reciprocated the affection.
It was a perfect match of pet and family from the beginning.
Vicky was kind enough to keep in contact with us and share pictures. There were pictures of Roxy with
the family and all the other animals in the home. Vicky had taken several weeks off of work to ensure a smooth
transition for Roxy and it proved to be a success. It was almost as though Roxy had been born to be with Vicky.
Then, the unthinkable happened.
Vicky writes…
It started as normal morning. I started my morning routine, went to work but by 9am my daily routine changed drastically. I received a call stating that my home was on fire. As we raced to the house, I was in disbelief. All I could think about was how my animals were in the house with no way to get out. When arriving at the scene, the house was already over half burned with people everywhere.
I was then told my animals were not able to be saved. We lost several animals in the fire. Roxy was our newest bulldog pup we had only had a short while. I was so excited when I got the chance to own Roxy. She was already very much part of out family. My husband, Greg, Dillon, my 11 year-old-son, Grace, my 5yr-old-girl and, of course, I had already developed a strong attachment to her. It is still hard to believe she is gone.
We also lost two miniature doberman pinschers that had been part of the family for 14 years. They were sisters whose names were Billy Jean and Annie. They were getting older but still a very much part of our family and daily lives. We also lost a pet goat that we were bottle feeding. The goat, Roxy and Grace would play and chase each other around the house every day. Animals are and have been very much part of our lives. We have a blue heeler named Possum, a Great Pyrenees named Joleen as well as horses, cattle, and chickens.
We have since gotten another bulldog named Angel. My husband was looking on the internet and came across this pup that looked like Roxy. Her name was Angel. I looked at the picture of the pup and it was like she was sent from above. Even the name seemed odd given our circumstances.
We drove to Mississippi that night and to pick her up. She is now becoming part of the family just like Roxy but she doesn't replace our very special Roxy. While sifting and sorting through the house's ashes, my husband was able to find remains of Roxy. We gave her a proper burial next to my horse that died after having her for over 20 years. That did ease some of the pain, but she can never be replaced or forgotten.
The following is from Brian Lee of Lexington, the previous owner of Roxy, a beautiful bulldog, who tragically lost her life in a house fire, and the story, as told by Roxy's owner, Vicky.
